Two new apartment complexes have been proposed to be built in O'Fallon. One site is being called "Water Tower Point", while the other is "The Landings O'Fallon". Both of these new developments are being moved forward in by the O'Fallon city council and are supported by town mayor Bill Hennesy. Mid Rivers News reports that Along with the apartments, the Landings of O'Fallon development is planned to include the existing Circle K gas station, along with new Imo’s Pizza store, a new O’Reilly Auto Parts store, a new community building, a n, and a new mixed-use building with retail spaces on the first floor and 12 apartments on two floors above the retail. The developer said there might also be a Smoothie King. The total number of rental apartment units would be 192. The site is situated on the north by the Duckett Creek office, on the south by the gas station and O’Fallon Road, on the west by Hwy. K, and on the east by The Landing of O’Fallon Senior Living facility. The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.
WENTZVILLE: Just 2200 yards south of the Lincoln County border, you will find 109 acres with deep ties to history called Towne Park. Towne Park boasts a reconstructed 1800s historical homestead, plenty of paved walking and hiking trails, a fully-stocked pond, and multiple playgrounds.
This property was settled by the Boyd family in 1829, after they moved west from Kentucky. This property was primarily farmed by the Boyd's until 1905, when it was sold to Henry Nathe. Eventually the property made its way to Ms. Betty Towne, who eventually donated it to St. Charles County.
The Boyd's reconstructed farmstead still sits on the site where it is well-maintained.
The park featured a fully stocked lake and walking paths around it. You can also see a fairly-long dock that stretches a portion of the shore.
This is the main playground, in the shadow of the lake behind it...
...but also features a shady playground where children can play in a large sand box, play on a small music stage, play church in a child-sized gathering area and much more.
At the entrance of the park is a prairie-in-progress. The arbor was an Eagle Scout project. It was a pleasant stroll.
FINAL REVIEW: 4.5 / 5.0 stars.
The park was everything you could ask for - amenities for the kids, shady trees, a paved walking path, great historical facts and only three people were there at 2p on a Sunday. However, this park is not very convenient for most of the County's population to reach and the entry and exit to the park is directly off Highway 40/64. Due to the proximity to population and the high-risk exit, we give this a 4.5. Like this type of content? Subscribe to our newsletter for one email, once a week. On Saturday morning, August 28 2021, with few hours notice, hundreds of people gathered along Wentzville Parkway to pay tribute to fallen Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz. Schmitz’s family resides in Wentzville. On Friday night, an event created by Kyle Thayer started circulating around Facebook and more than 100 people announced their intentions to gather. The St. Charles County Correspondent estimates nearly 300 people showed up and brought with them hundreds more American flags. The east side of Wentzville Parkway got so crowded people began gathering on the west side. The men and women of the United States of America owe a debt we cannot repay to Mr. Schmitz, who gave his last full measure of devotion protecting and defending the country he loved so dearly.
May God Bless our brave service men and women who don the uniform of the United States Military. The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.
It’s called ‘F3’ and it’s a peer-led workout community for men that has taken St. Charles County by storm in the last 10 months. Local leader, Evan Petzoldt, tells us St. Charles is home to seven locations (called AO’s or ‘Area of Operation’) with plans to establish six more by the end of the year. Be sure to listen to our show with Evan on Spotify!
F3 is free, and open to all men, regardless of fitness level. Workouts are very scalable and they are also held outdoors, no matter the weather and no matter the temperature. They also have many options, as each location typically has 2-3 workouts per week. F3 stands for 1) Fitness, 2) Fellowship, and 3) Faith. F3 tells us they foster a sense of community leadership by bringing men together at 5:30a in the morning to workout and improve their lives. This is the primary reason for their explosive growth and planned expansion. You can check out F3 on their website by CLICKING here. And don’t worry ladies, there is a workout group for you too! ‘FiA Nation’ has several locations across St. Charles County, too. Check them out on their website. If you’re looking to get into shape this summer, F3 or FiA Nation might be the right thing for you |
