Historic rainfall not seen since 1915 leaves most roadways underwater.
Here is everything we know:
1. Record Rainfall The St. Louis area shattered the all-time daily rainfall record, reporting 8.06 inches of rain through 7:00AM July 26. The previous record was set on August 20, 1915 with 6.85 inches. 2. Flooding Large portions of Highway 70 is underwater as of 7:39a. Thomas Howes published this photo around 7:30a on Highway 70 at Mid Rivers.
The primary concern lies at the intersection of Highway 70 and Highway 370 where you can see the highway remains closed in both directions.
We searched through Facebook and there is at least some staanding-water being reported on these roads as well:
- Highway Z - Highway D - Cole Blvd. - Dearfield Drive - Belleau Creek Road - Highway 79 at TR Hughes Blvd. - Highway P at Dames Park Here is another look at Highway 70 at Mid Rivers this morning.

This memorial designation will become effective August 28, 2022. The Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs designating such highway, with the cost to be paid by private donation. Mark Schmitz, Jared's father, gives credit to Representative Schroer and Wentzville Mayor Nick Guccionie for lobbying the government for the bridge. An agreement has been struck between the the St. Charles County Drug Task Force Unit, and the law enforcement professionals just north-west of our community, the Lincoln County Sheriffs Department.
This agreement will guarantee and formalize cooperation between the two counties when it comes to the enforcement of drug laws. The agreement is officially called the "The Associate Membership Agreement by and between the St. Charles County Regional Drug Task Force and Lincoln County Sheriff’s office”. This agreement hopes to save taxpayer money by easing lines of communication and combining duplicative investigations and resource expenditures. An officer from the Lincoln County Sheriffs department will also now serve on the St. Charles County Drug Task Force Unit, which currently has members from all the major police departments in St. Charles County. WENTZVILLE: Just 2200 yards south of the Lincoln County border, you will find 109 acres with deep ties to history called Towne Park. Towne Park boasts a reconstructed 1800s historical homestead, plenty of paved walking and hiking trails, a fully-stocked pond, and multiple playgrounds.
This property was settled by the Boyd family in 1829, after they moved west from Kentucky. This property was primarily farmed by the Boyd's until 1905, when it was sold to Henry Nathe. Eventually the property made its way to Ms. Betty Towne, who eventually donated it to St. Charles County.
The Boyd's reconstructed farmstead still sits on the site where it is well-maintained.
The park featured a fully stocked lake and walking paths around it. You can also see a fairly-long dock that stretches a portion of the shore.
This is the main playground, in the shadow of the lake behind it...
...but also features a shady playground where children can play in a large sand box, play on a small music stage, play church in a child-sized gathering area and much more.
At the entrance of the park is a prairie-in-progress. The arbor was an Eagle Scout project. It was a pleasant stroll.
FINAL REVIEW: 4.5 / 5.0 stars.
The park was everything you could ask for - amenities for the kids, shady trees, a paved walking path, great historical facts and only three people were there at 2p on a Sunday. However, this park is not very convenient for most of the County's population to reach and the entry and exit to the park is directly off Highway 40/64. Due to the proximity to population and the high-risk exit, we give this a 4.5. Like this type of content? Subscribe to our newsletter for one email, once a week.
